The Dent County Health Center has identified several cases of RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) in Dent County Residents in the past week.
RSV is a respiratory virus that spreads through droplets. For most adults and older children, it causes mild to moderate cold or flu-like illness. However, for young children and older adults, RSV can be severe.
For infants, RSV is one of the leading causes of hospitalization.
Covering your coughs and sneezes (and wearing a mask) can reduce the transmission of RSV. Avoid contact with others if you have cold, flu, or COVID symptoms. Wash your hands and disinfect surfaces often to reduce the spread of influenza and RSV.
The Dent County Health Center offers tests for RSV, influenza, COVID-19, and other respiratory diseases.
