Introduction
Dent County Health Center (DCHC) is excited to announce the launch of our brand-new transportation program, aimed at improving the health and mobility of Salem and Dent County residents. This unique service is made possible through the support of the Dent County Opioid Settlement Fund and will help individuals—especially those in recovery—access the resources they need to thrive. From getting to medical appointments and recovery meetings, to traveling to work or picking up groceries, reliable transportation is a critical part of staying healthy and connected.
Why We’re Starting This Service
Transportation can be a major barrier for people in rural communities, particularly those who may not have a personal vehicle or easy access to public transit. Missing appointments or being unable to reach essential services can slow progress in recovery, affect employment, and limit access to basic necessities. At DCHC, we believe that everyone deserves a fair chance at improving their well-being, and this new service is one way we’re working to remove obstacles for our neighbors.
How It Works
Our transportation program will include two types of drivers:
- Head Driver – This full-time role operates the DCHC van and oversees day-to-day ride operations.
- Contract Drivers – Similar to rideshare drivers, these individuals use their personal vehicles to provide rides and earn a per-ride fee.
Both roles will serve Salem and Dent County residents, ensuring safe, convenient rides. The Head Driver and Contract Drivers will coordinate with DCHC to manage ride requests, track trips, and maintain excellent customer service.
Why Join Our Team?
- Make a Difference: Every ride helps someone access vital services or stay on track with their recovery.
- Flexibility (for Contract Drivers): Work on your own schedule and earn income while serving the community.
- Community Impact: Help Dent County become a healthier, more connected place to live.
