As our childcare assistance program comes to a close, the Dent County Health Center wishes to recognize our many childcare providers that joined with us to serve parents and guardians in our community. The program, which started in August of 2022, has ended after successfully distributing almost $800,000 over approximately nine months.
Twenty-one childcare providers participated in the program, with over 300 children receiving care at the peak of the program. According to a survey we conducted in late 2022, more than 50 of these children were not previously in childcare. This program has given parents the opportunity to seek out job opportunities that would not otherwise have been possible without the assistance provided.
Our only regret is that more funding is not available to continue this program. Should more funding become available in the future, Dent County Health Center would eagerly reignite the program to furnish this impactful assistance for the betterment of the health of our community.
