Dent County Health Center hosted our first Annual Gala and Awards Banquet on April 24th, 2026, celebrating the healthcare workers and community organizations that are committed to improving the quality of life of Dent County residents.
There were 16 awards the public helped select winners for and 2 board of health selected award.
The 16 awards and their winners are as follows:
1. Physician of the Year: Dr. Brady Floyd
2. Nurse of the Year: Brittany Shepherd
3. Nurse Practitioner of the Year: Sandra Headrick
4. Pharmacist of the Year: Hershel Moser
5. Allied Health Professional of the Year: Teresa Wisdom
6. Emergency Services Excellence Award: Logan Pogue
7. Preventative Care Leadership Award: SMDH Mammography
8. Rural Health Impact Award: Phelps Health
9. Emerging Clinical Leader Award: Dr. Brady Floyd
10. Clinical Team of the Year: Sandra Headrick’s Team at Phelps Health
11. Health System of the Year: Phelps Health
12. Community Health Partner of the Year: Aging Best
13. Friend of Public Health Award: Kala Sisco
14. Social Services Award: Sarah Arnett
15. Community Charity and Outreach Award: Love Thy Neighbor
16. Community Health Initiative Excellence Award: ToRCH
The 2 Board of Health awards and their winners are as follows:
1. Fey Schafer Lifetime Achievement Award: Joan Fleener
2. Humanitarian Excellence Award: Thomas Haines
DCHC also raised funds during the event to continue supporting invaluable programs and services for Dent County Residents. These programs include, but not limited to:
1. Teen Maze: A real life game of life event that allows 5th, 8th and 12th grade students learn about the consequences of their actions and what they can do to implement healthy choices.
2. Bi Annual Health Fair: The Spring and Fall health fairs provide quick low cost healthcare screenings, lab draws, blood lead draws, STI/STD screenings.
3. CareCab: A low cost transportation service that assists Dent County residents getting to the grocery store, laundromat, doctor’s appointments, and more. This service has removed barriers for many Dent County residents who do not have reliable transportation to improve their access to food, healthcare, and even socialization needs.
In its inaugural year DCHC raised: $5,433.94
