The Dent County Health Center welcomed a new employee, Janelle Moore, to take on the role of Project Manager for the Building Communities for Better Health grant project. DCHC was awarded the contract from the Department of Health and Senior Services in the amount of $175,000. The project’s goals are to address health disparities in Dent County by educating on the risks of public smoking and exploring the feasibility of a public smoking prohibition in all or parts of the county. Other goals include working on an active transportation plan and improving the health of county residents through physical activity. Healthy Dent County and the Prevention Coalition are partners of DCHC in this program.
